Internships at the Electric City Aquarium

As an intern at the Electric City Aquarium & Reptile Den, you will have the opportunity to work side by side with our experienced aquarists or zookeepers assisting in the care of various aquatic animals, reptiles, and amphibians while educating guests. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in many of our day to day activities, including: interacting with guests and getting them involved with learning about our animal collection, cleaning and maintaining our gallery and public areas, assisting with the daily care of our animals, and much more!

Spring- January-April- Application Deadline November 1
          Hours: 9:00am-3:30pm- 2 days a week (150 hours)
Summer- May- August- Application Deadline March 1
          Hours: 9:00am-3:30pm-  3 days a week  (200 hours)
Fall- September-December -Application Deadline July 1
          Hours: 9:00am-3:30pm- 2 days a week  (150 hours)

 
Internships at the aquarium are unpaid but provide hands-on experiences that add value to any college education. Interns obtain valuable job experience and establish professional contacts in an exciting and stimulating environment. College internship positions are available year-round for both credit and non-credit seeking interns. Interns will be required to complete a minimum of 180 hours and to complete an approved project in their department.
 

Majors and Projects: 

We can accept interns from most majors but there will be a priority for Biology, Science, Education and Marketing majors.  If you have a project idea, let us know! We also have a variety of project ideas to choose from.

  • As an intern, you will be required to complete a project as part of your internship. Project options may be provided or you may present a project idea for approval.
    **Please list all days available from 9:00am-3:30pm. Days of actual internship may vary based on availability** We ask that Summer interns commit to a minimum of 3 days a week for a 6 hour shift. We ask Fall and Spring interns to commit to a minimum of 2 days a week for a 6 hour shift.
